By submitting an entry to The Canadian Landscape Legacy, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.

Competition Overview

The Canadian Landscape Legacy is a national art competition organized by Urban Art Studio 101. It celebrates excellence in plein air and landscape painting across Canada.

Eligibility

• Open to Canadian residents aged 18 and older.

• Entries must be original works created solely by the submitting artist.

• Both emerging and established artists are welcome.

Submission Guidelines

• Entries must be submitted online by May 31, 2026.

• Accepted media: oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, or mixed media.

• Submissions must include high-resolution images of the artwork and an artist statement.

• Finalists must participate in live plein air painting sessions in Edmonton’s River Valley.

• Artists bring their own supplies and canvas (recommended size: not too small, not oversized; e.g., 16×20 to 20×24 inches). Easels, tables, and chairs will be provided.

Judging and Selection

• A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on artistic merit, originality, and technical skill.

• Judges’ decisions are final and binding.

• Urban Art Studio 101 may disqualify any entry that violates these terms.

Intellectual Property and Usage Rights

• Copyright: Artists retain full copyright to their works.

• Usage Rights: By submitting an entry, artists grant Urban Art Studio 101 a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use and reproduce artwork images for:

  • Exhibition and display at competition events.

  • Publication on the competition website and social media.

  • Inclusion in promotional materials, press releases, and publications.

  • Archival purposes.

Prizes

Winners will receive prizes as described on the official competition website. Prizes are non-transferable and have no cash value unless otherwise specified.

Limitation of Liability

Urban Art Studio 101 is not responsible for the loss or damage of artworks during the competition. Artists are responsible for transporting and, if desired, insuring their works.
